News PCIe Scaling and You

This is an updated version of an article written by techpowerup a few years ago looking at performance loss going from x16 3.0 down and their influence on framerates. Interesting as always for those who are keen to use items such as M.2 to PCIe adapters etc.

It's good that PCIe 3.0 x4 can still be plenty for the latest GPUs (the 2nd yellow bar). PCIe 3.0 x4 possible through certain M.2 PCIe and Thunderbolt 3 ports, if they aren't gimped.

I think it's funny how PCIe 4.0 will be more useful for high-performance SSDs than it will be for video cards.
