So in the never ending cycle of tweaks and upgrades I find myself wanting to add WiFi and Bluetooth to my htpc. I could just get a usb dongle but where's the fun in that?

I currently have an nvme SSD plugged into a pcie riser and now I'm wondering if I can get a dual m.2 riser and get an appropriate wireless module.

Has anyone done this and what key am I looking for for WiFi module compatibility? (I wish m.2 didn't have so many variations!)

Thanks!

You are going to probably going to need at least a slot that is x8 electrically and port bifurcation supported BIOS.

Then a dual m.2 card and a Key M to Key A+E (+ USB for the Bluetooth?)

I got a couple of these https://m.aliexpress.us/item/2255800374257377.html for stupid ATX motherboards with 4x M.2 NVMe and no Wifi m.2

OT: Also just got the reverse on order, m.2 Wifi (Key A+E) to NVMe (Key M).
https://m.aliexpress.us/item/3256804136917718.html It will allow me to use a 16gb Optane as boot drive for a TrueNAS and save the m.2 NVMe and other PCIe slots for cache and or metadata drives. (Key A+E is only x1. But Gen 3 x1 is plenty for some tasks, beats SATA imo)

Apologies for necropost, just wanted some resources for the next person who hits this page from a search.
