Modding a SATA power cable, need help

The pinout is not completely symmetric:



So if you did that it'd short the 12V to the 3.3V unless you also rearrange the wires as needed.

SF600 in the Cerberus X mounting it on the backside of the PSU (I have the fan pointing out towards the front)

okay, i got it right the 2nd time. now to attempt it again but with a tad longer wire lol

any tips on cutting the wire to let it slide better into the connector?

Yeah, you really REALLY REALLY need be sure about pin-out when messing with power supplies and cables. They make those connectors only fit one way for good reason. The wrong voltage or wrong kind of polarity (+ or -) often means destroyed hardware. I have a tester just for that and I still get jittery when I plug hardware in the first time.

thanks guys :D this is my first time. its working. i just matched all the wires from another sata harness

I make absolutely no guarantees since I can only go off the picture, but the one with black wires does look correct.
