I've got a few 3.5" drives I'd to keep in rotation. Previously I thought I needed a hot swap bay, but I'm now I'm coming around to doing it the old fashion way - simply swapping drives while the computer is off.

It seems that the M1 allows fairly quick and easy access to 3.5" drives, but how many can it hold?

Will the M1 hold say...3x 3.5" HDDs and 1x 2.5" SSD?

This would be a build that isn't overclocked, so no water cooling.

It can, with some caveats:
  • Two 3.5" HDDs can be mounted in the dedicated 3.5" cage, which mounts to the side fan bracket. Note the fan bracket (and thus the cage) cannot be used with the windowed side panel.
  • One 3.5" HDD can be installed on the floor of the case, however when using a discrete GPU this will block some airflow to the GPU's intake (if it's an open cooler card). The drive will also tend to run hotter due to proximity to the GPU.
  • There are mounts for a 2.5" drive on the inside front of the chassis, and on the outside front (behind the front panel and in place of the ODD).
