Hi! I'm starting my first S4 Mini PC build and I bought the Intel i5-7600K + Asus Strix Z270i Mini-ITX combo on a deal for $350 (and I already bought G.Skill 3200 and the Noctua L9i cooler (both on sale)), but the Ryzen 1600X came out afterwards and I'm trying to figure out whether it's worth trying to return it all for the possible performance improvements and future-proofing? I'm planning on playing mostly games but also doing pretty light CAD and Excel work.

This is my build as it stands: (Everything has been purchased except for the 1070 card)

The best you can do now is to put on sale the i5 7600K and get a used i7 6700 (K or not, depends on you). It's not worth selling this combo and buy a ryzen motherboard and cpu.

Most CAD programs don't make good use of multiple cores unless you're rendering, so be sure to take single-threaded performance into account.

I see that the 7700K is on sale for $80 more than I paid for the 7600K, is the upgrade worth it for future-proofing and performance?
