Yeah I saw that, I was hoping for information on the i7. One site speculated that the 9000 series will be 4C/8T for i3, 6C/12T for i5 and 8C/16T for i7. Which would put Intel on par with AMD, that would put the i3 at the same level as the 7000 series i7.

This could be interesting if Zen 2 launches anywhere near the core 9000 series. I can't help but think that the node shrink and architecture improvements will push AMD squarely in front of Intel.

Well as 'official' as a note in an ancillary piece of documentation (that has since been corrected) can be, anyway. It's about as confirmed' as the I5-8650K, which has continued to fail to exist.

Good point. Title changed. Hopefully they're not too far off the mark!

Not a week ago I was reading that the i7 9700k would be a refreshed 8700k, but that Intel was dropping a i9- 9900k that would be the 8 core model....

Just gonna sit back til I hear more from Intel.

I heard something similar too. I guess it's a return fire release in response AMD's Ryzen 2? Great to see AMD stirring things up though!

If not for AMD shaking things up we would probably still be getting 4C/8T i7 from Intel.

I hope they aren't seriously planning on rebadging Coffee Lake for the coming year just so they can say "i9 9900K" like it's an impossible achievement they've managed. I guess it'll have a 99W TDP as well (4 core to 6 core: 91W --> 95W) and realisticly consume 160W for it's rated performance but will outperform Ryzen easily, while Threadripper offers good competition.

I'm hoping Intel will have something really new in 2019.

I hope so too, but I don't think so... maybe just a re-hash of the 8xxx series with a slight clock bump and a pair of 'flagship' i9 8c/16t thrown in for shits & gigs? It's z87->z97 all over again, although back then AMD were nowhere in sight.

Strange. This is the first time I have seen the 9700k listed as possibly 8c/8t, I wish Intel would release the specs already so we can stop speculating.

I have seen it reported before that both MSI and Asrock had BIOS updates for new CPU for the z370 motherboards, I just checked and both Asus and Gigabyte also have new BIOS updates available. So it is looking good for being able to use these new CPUs with existing z370 motherboards.

I prefer to wait on officiel Intel announcing, last news about the i9-9900k said: Intel is reportedly prepping a new round of 9000 series processors culminating in the Core i9-9900K, an 8-core/16-thread chip that figures to be the chipmaker's most powerful mainstream CPU to date .
Regards.
