I'm a new member on this forum and I recently got interested in building an affordable small form factor computer. I live in California in the Bay Area. I personally prefer flat "console-killer" builds. I'm particularly interested in motherboards with socket lga1151 and the pcie 16x slot at the top edge of the board like these PIO boards that I've seen some pictures of.

Hello and welcome ! You'll find plenty of console-size cases and builds on this forum. The PIO boards also have my interests peaked, but as long as we don't have a good supply of these or the cases that need to go along with it, it'll be one step too far. Unless you're planning on doing something about that ? :D

I'd probably make/design my own case if I get around to buying a PIO board. Production though would probably be out of my capability. In any case, I have to get a job first so I can afford such things as a brand new computer and college bills.
