Hello from Scotland

Hello all,

Joined as I've recently seen some of the builds you SFF guys are doing and I'm very impressed, it made me realise that I want to rebuild my ATX build into an ITX case, as I'm not making use of all the extra features of ATX (apart from being able to use large CPU cooler etc). I'll be picking all your brains very shortly in the hope that you can advise me on my first SFF build

I'm from Edinburgh in Scotland, yourself? My current build is the following:

Case - Phanteks Evolv ATX
CPU - 8700K & Dark Rock Pro 3
Motherboard - Z370 Asus Maximus X
GPU - EVGA 1080 FTW
PSU - Superflower Leadex II 650W Gold
RAM - 2x8GB G.Skill Trident Z 3200Mhz
Storage - Samsung 960 Evo 250GB/Samsung 860 QVO 1TB/Samsung 840 Evo 500GB
Case cooling - 6x120mm Corsair ML Pro

I've just ordered an Ncase M1 today, my rough idea for changes to my build is:

Case - Ncase M1
CPU - Same but delid & Noctua N9s or Noctua U14S
Motherboard - Z390 Asrock Phantom ITX
GPU - Same but go to 3070/3080 eventually
PSU - Corsair SF750 Platinum
RAM - Same if it fits
Storage - Same
Case cooling - Noctua fans (have to be grey or black though)

That's my initial thoughts anyway, need to keep researching to figure out what fits best etc!

The Ncase M1 is very high quality, functionality and pretty case.

Only delid or lapping too?
I delid a 9900K, bought a new polished copper ihs and used liquid metal... Wow really impressive results!!

@Shivers is your first delid? you need to be very careful with the liquid metal, i recommend use some silicone coating or tape coating.

Only delidding, will be running stock or with just a minor O/C so not going to bother with lapping. I'll be grabbing the Der8auer delid tool. Thanks for the advice

I have my 8700k delidded and it made a huge difference, full 20C improvement.
