The Scythe 120mm x 12mm fan is not quiet in my experience, the default slim Noctua 92mm fan that comes with the cooler will be much quieterThis is true, however fans create most of their airflow around the outer edge of the fan not the center, and as the outer edge of the fan will not be over the heatsink as its bigger than the heatsink then most of the air will not be passing through the heatsink and you may actually find you get worse temperatures. Just something to consider!
