I have a HDPLEX 200W DC-ATX and a Dell 230W power brick. I plan not to use the include barrel plug as I have a toddler that have a habbit of pulling things.
What type of gx connector should I use? gx12 or gx16, also with regards to the number of pin I'm leaning on getting 6 pin as to have 1 to 1 wires or should I go with 2 pins?
As for max voltage and max amp limit. as it differ from vendor to vendor, is there particular thing I should look out for?

I'd go for GX12, 6 pin. Theoretically 4 is enough, because they are rated for 5A continuous. But as you say, matching wire count to pins is a good thing.

GX16, 2 pins _should_ be fine too, but make sure you get from good manufacturer. If ordering from china do 4 pins.
