So I've stumbled across some old photos not so long ago and I thought I'd post them here to show how far I've come. You'll see what I mean when you look at this behemoth:

It had the following hardware back then:
  • AMD Athlon XP 2400+ @ 2,3GHz
  • Asus A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2.0 fitted with 2 Zalman NB-32J coolers for Southbridge and Mosfets
  • 1024MB PC2700 DDR Infineon (2x 512MB)
  • HIS Radeon X850 XT 256MB AGP fitted with Asetek Waterchill VGA-block
  • Promise FastTrak S150 TX2plus for my DVD+/-RW drive
  • 2x Western Digital Raptor WD360GD 36GB (10000rpm, SATA, 8MB) in RAID 0 for OS & games
  • 2x Maxtor DiamondMax Plus 9 160GB (7200rpm, ATA133, 8MB) for data and swapfile
  • 1x Seagate Barracuda 7200.8 250GB (7200rpm, ATA100, 8MB) for backup only
  • BenQ DW1620A (DVD+/-RW)
  • Lite-On LTR-52246S (CD-RW)
  • Labtec APX 4620
  • Intel Pro 100+ PCI Networking Card
  • Dell UltraSharp 2005FPW (20.1" widescreen TFT screen)
  • Cooler Master ATC-310-GX1 Full Aluminium Server Case
  • Tagan TG480-U01, 480W PSU, sleeved and connectors replaced with black ones
  • Asetek WaterChill KT12-L30 (for CPU, VGA & NB), pump has been replaced with a Liang DDC 12V

Don't mind the sleeving or the cable management, I had much less attention to detail.
Also don't mind the pink coolant, the coloring was sold as "red"...

And ofcourse I was young & stupid back then, so that desk-drawer-sized case was ON my desk:

But thanks to a local acrylic company I could realise this:

Before or after this project (can't remember), I custom-made a complete acrylic cube case (40cm³) with the same company but I have not found those pictures.

And before that Behemoth, there was... ANOTHER !

Presenting in glorious blurry pictures, from way back in 2002: my acrylic custom-designed cube case !

I believe those are 17" CRT screens, so yes, this is not SFF approved.

Due to a very dark blue hue of acrylic, when the lights are off, it seems almost transparant. Not really well-captured by the camera (it was 2002 and unexperienced in photography) but it was an amazing effect, very calming and soothing.

That's a Plextor SCSI CDRW 8-2-20 I believe, below that a slot-load SCSI DVD-ROM. Next to that a floppy drive and a ZIP drive.

I thought these pictures were forever gone, because I've lost all my data a couple of times before I learned to have backups. Luckily my nephew still had these.
What was inside, I believe it was the same crap I had in the case at the start of this topic.
