I can pretty much guarantee it's what he had on hand, and likely couldn't get more modern samples. That said...I built the Densium 4 with a 5600X because it was only $110, and I already I had 32GB of DDR4. I also used the SilverStone non-modular PSU for mine because it's what I had on hand. I would have loved to have build it fully modular with a more modern CPU, but I couldn't afford to spend that type of cash on what, for me, is a system that's going to spend most of its life plugged into a classic CRT monitor and playing games and emulators at low resolutions. No manufacture would sponsor the type of build I'm doing unless my name was Linus.
