I think RAM heatsinks need to be grouped together with GPU backplates: it protects the product against ESD for a big part of the contact surface and thus reduces defective/returned products.Motherboard heatsinks are more akin to rice rocket spoilers: the more ludicrious it gets, the more distance there is between form and function.
