Completed 8.87L: 6900 XT/C14S

UPDATE: This is a further refined version of the k9L... made to fit the 2.5 slot Reference 6900XT/6800XT.

These are the materials I orderd to size and bend (prices in Euro and before tax):

Other than that: angle steel bar (0.75mm), rivets, M3 drill/thread cutter), 4* 6mm standoffs and a Dremel.

I reworked my concept for the k8l, the 8L case I announced after finishing the blackbox5.18. It grew 1L but now fits the C14S even on the B450-I Aorus Pro Wifi where the socket is very far from the PCIe slot.

Imagine: SF750/R9 3950X/RTX 2080Ti all inside of 9L.

Nice case. First time I see it (I'm from Germany). But the C14S would not fit, at least with the current AM4 boards from Gigabyte. Also I like the fact that I only have two sheets of metal that need to be screwed together

Nice! I would buy! How much did it cost to build the actual case?
I think you could of made it even smaller shaving off the width area where the power button located, I guess about 210mm width, like K77 case.

I originally had only 8L (k8L) with 202mm width (just like with the 5.18L). It's now 223mm not 222mm because of the cover being 1,5mm istead of 1mm and 222mm not 202mm because of the NH-C14s extending beyond the board.

I still wanted to fit it because its exactliy the height of a reference height card and performs almost like a good towercooler/AIO.

The two sheets of 1mm and 1,5mm galvanized steel where 45€ with shipping, the steel angle (galvanized 0.75mm) was 1€ for 1m. Beyound that I used 9 rivets and 4 6mm standoffs. One 50cm 90 degre C13 cord , one C14 socket. 3 crimps

Do you mean the only one I made? I don't know how to start mass production. I don't know whether there is a big enough interest. It is nothing special. Something like this could be in production for years now. Ever since i gotten into SFF (~2010) I personally wanted something like this.

DAN did a great job with the A4 and it seems now everyone has been incorporating risers whether it benefits the design or not (latest example NZXT H1). Know I look forward to the C4 and how it will impact the marked.

I had a chance to pass on and the Gigabyte B450-I and R5 3600... Now I ordered the R7 3700X and Asus B450-I (because of the second M.2). Maybe the C14S will fit on the Asus into my next prototype with 8.4L... if not I will just use the Wraith Prism. The case will be made for DHE cards only... no venting except for one 120mm or 140mm intake fan and SFX PSU/DHE card as exhaust

Got the Asus B450-I and unfortunately the NH-C14S doesn't fit into the k8.4l (284*205*144mm) so I used the Wraith Prism that came with the R7 3700X.

I placed the 140mm fan a little to close to the graphics card so the fan needed to be cut AND the card had to go in without the backplate ;(

This time 2mm Aluminum was used. The body is one piece... bend and welded on the edges.

I'm really liking this project.

It may be worth rotating the PSU around to pull in air from the front through a *vent. I had the same layout as you in my ncase with an open GPU and the PSU got pretty toasty with the fan running at full tilt.

I'm back to the original design and material, but I ordered these adapters in order to reduce the widht further. It's now 8,4L (223*282*133,5mm). It's nice to see it even more filled up and this 10mm less allows me to fit it inside my hardcase along with the monitor (G-Story/17,3''/1080p/120Hz).

Other than open air... this must be the happiest 6900 XT
