Basically, I'm taking an Eclipse 1500C system, gutting it, integrating a laptop monitor (it just fits with some modding), putting a 8350K or 8600K and a 1070 Mini with a HDPlex 400W DC-ATX and an HDPlex brick.

The HDPlex DC-ATX will be in the case itself, which measures 351*213*62 at the base, the rear part is angled and is 351*240*62 at the top, which is equivalent to a volume of 4.92L.

The HDPlex power brick will reside in the bottom of the base, which is 210mm wide, so it's perfect. It'll be a brickless AIO computer! (don't think I can make this happen)

It'll have a standard 1366*768 monitor to start with until I can a find higher resolution alternative for cheap. Hoping for at least 1080p, would love 1080p/120hz, I think Alienware has some on some models of gaming laptops.

My biggest hurdle right now is to find an appropriate CPU cooler. I'll be using a Gigabyte Z370N-Wifi board and with a total height of 62mm, I don't know what CPU cooler height that equates to. The standoffs are like 5mm at most.

I hope I have your attention ;)

HARDWARE

CPU : Intel i5 8600K
CPU cooler : Fanless Phanteks PH-TC12LS unless I can fit my Raijintek Pallas fanless.
Motherboard : Gigabyte Z370N-Wifi [Sponsored]
RAM :
Team Group Nighthawk White 2*8GB 3600/18
SSD : Crucial MX200 500GB M.2
GPU : Gigabyte GTX 1070 Mini OC [Sponsored] with Li-Heat 30cm B-type riser and 3D Printed mount
PSU : HDPlex 400W HiFi DC-ATX [Sponsored] with HDPlex brick [Sponsored] mounted to the rear with 3D printed brackets
Monitor : integrated 15.6" 1366*768 (From Acer 5552 laptop) used as secondary display, haven't bought main display yet, either 32" 1440p 16:9 or 34" 1080p 21:9
Case : Eclipse 1500C with a few mods, case section measures approximately 345*230*62 (W*D*H) and has 7mm stand-offs for 4.99L The depth of case varies because the back is slanted, so 220 at the bottom and 240 at the top.

CUSTOM PARTS to do

3D printed front bezel replacement (printed in 6 parts!)
3D printed feet (4*)

This sounds interesting, be wary of temperatures though. It doesn't look like there's a whole lot of airflow happening in that case and an i3/i5 k plus a 1070 plus the screen on top of that is going to make it very toasty in there.
Do you have any pictures of the case opened up? Does it fit an itx board as standard or is there some modification required? Really intrigued to see the layout.

If you have 62mm height internal then space wise you'll be able to fit most popular sff coolers, Noctua L9i, cryorig C7 etc.

I'll be adding ventilation holes for sure, I plan to have 3*60mm fans on one side on a custom 3D printed bracket (above the motherboard) and holes on the opposite side for intake.

I'll upload a picture of the "default" internal layout. It's standard mounting, it had a LGA 775 ASUS motherboard.

If you have 62mm height internal then space wise you'll be able to fit most popular sff coolers, Noctua L9i, cryorig C7 etc.

it's 62mm TOTAL, from the rear panel, up to the top panel.

Surprisingly more area than I thought there'd be. Height wise they had a stock cooler fitted so I imagine you'd still be fine with most low profile coolers

These pictures are after a good bath there was so much dust in there, it needed to go for a dishwasher cycle! pictures are with the monitor disassembled, it was a touch screen TFT 15" monitor, which I won't be using.

Anyone have data on how thick is the motherboard PCB+CPU socket+CPU is?

I've been searching far and wide for the last week or more without finding anything :(

PCBs are usually 1.6mm approx. So I think I can safely assume 10mm total. Thanks!

This leaves me with 45mm clearance for a CPU cooler.

So, I'll be going with a Phanteks PH-TC12LS without a fan and will be 3D printing a shroud for it to direct flow over it. It's 48mm tall, but with the cut out, I'll go above it a little.

yup, I have 62 total, but with that LCD cutout, I might clear it, if not, I'll lap the base until it does!

Updated the OP, I was approached by HDPlex after I had done another project with them, I immediately hopped on board, and Gigabyte too :)

CPU got here yesterday and right now the super glue is setting after my delid.
Li-Heat riser is supposed to be in the mail box.
SSD arrived yesterday.
Motherboard and GPU should ship this week

Decided on main display being an HP Pavillion 32Q 2560*1440 IPS for $300 CAD.

Good times ahead! :D

Laptop LCD built into the frame instead of the stock 15" TFT. Looks much crisper than that stock display and will serve well as a secondary display :)
