What's the maximum GPU thickness that can fit the A4 H2O? Currently using a Zotac Holo 3080, deshrouded and cooled by 2x Phanteks T30s (about 65-67mm thick including the GPU's backplate) - would be interesting to see if this can fit the A4 H20 considering it's a snug fit with the Ncase M1.
If you intend to keep the C14S, your only options on AM4 B550/X570 chipsets are Asus and Asrock. None of the existing Gigabyte or MSI ones will fit.
The Asetek-derived AIOs (e.g. NZXT's) are the easiest readily available ones that will fit well. I use the EK Basic 240 in mine, this runs a bit...
Tried out using 2x Phanteks T30s for deshrouded GPU fans. These seem to work well with the Zotac 3080 Trinity/Holo as well as the 3090 Trinity.
Zotac's 3080 Ti cards appear to use a 5mm thicker heatsink so those cards are probably better off on NF-A12s instead.
P.S. Don't expect wonders with...
The Zotac 3080 Holo has the same heatsink as the 3080 Trinity. The thermal pads that transfer heat from VRAM to the heatsink on the Trinity is 2mm.
Just a note: the situation I have is more like room temperatures of 30++ Celsius, so it's more of near worst case scenarios for cooling. Kinda why...
Had to move my desktop to a room in the house without air-conditioning.
The deshrouded Zotac 3080 Holo I have with me is still running a bit toasty in this environment, barely managing 80C @ 300W power draw in spite of Kryonaut repaste and the VRAM to heatsink thermal pads swapped with Gelid...
Is it hypothetically possible to mount a EVGA 3080 XC3 + the hybrid cooling upgrade to the bottom of the case? I reckon fans will definitely need to be swapped out, but is there still enough room to bend the tubes to fit?
The 3080 Ti Holo seems to have a thicker heatsink than the 3080 variant by approx. 5mm, making it a perfect fit. I have the 3080 Holo, and if the fans are mounted directly onto the case below the GPU, they is a 5-6mm gap between them and the deshrouded GPU. Maybe I should swap my Gentle Typhoons...
Anyone also knows if the Colorful 3080/3080Ti cards will fit once deshrouded? I know the Vulcan doesn't from the card width, but am unsure of the others. The Colorful 3080Ti Advanced is the next cheapest card available behind the Gainward/Palit entry level models and from general comments...
The shroud could be removed without the Zotac 3080 Holo heatsink if you snipped the fan cables or sawed away part of the fins blocking them - I decided it was better to repaste and put new thermal pads anyway than make any permanent mods to the card. Zotac's distributor here would honour...
I actually found that the fans on my deshrouded Zotac 3080 Holo worked better without standoffs that made the fans sit flush on the heatsink, and just screwed directly to the case. There was more turbulence when my cards used standoffs, and temp differences were negligible.
YMMV though, since...
I did a bunch of tests that could involve "hobby mining" with an RTX 3080 in this case, since I wanted to see what's the absolute worst case VRAM temperatures were. Best bet is to flip the case upside down, and use 120mm fans as intake if you're using a deshrouded card, but with no mesh filter...
Did some tests using 2 GT-1850 as intake, 3 NF-A9x14 as exhaust. Only have SotTR installed so far, if anyone knows what's a good gaming title that heats up the GPU well, and I have it in my gaming library, I'm happy to retest. I've heard Ethereum mining is the best way to cook VRAM due to the...
I've managed to get the following parts:
5800X
Asrock B550 Phantom Gaming ITX
NH-C14S
3x NF-A9x14
1x NF-A9 (rear mount)
1x NF-A12x25 (CPU cooler)
2x NF-A12x15 (between CPU cooler and side panel)
2x GT-1850 (air cooling for deshrouded Zotac Holo 3080)
Might do some testing over the next couple...
Noctua has a form on their website if you need a free AM4 mounting kit from them, proof of purchase of an AM4 board and/or one of their products without the AM4 mounting kit will be required. They will contact you via email when they ship it to you. No need to buy one from them. You can also...
