It's fine really. When you build new system there's always that feeling, that it should be better than average (and maybe unrealistic expectations), but really it's all good. That said, in summer we had quite a heatwave (~33 C ambient room temp), and Corsairs SF450 PSU had blown one of it's...

Stumbled upon a great YouTube timelapse video, that very nicely illustrates the pains of installing GPU inside OSMI :)

My chassis exhaust fan stays 600 RPM at all times. CPU fan is 360 RPM at idle & 600 RPM at load. CPU/GPU at idle is 35-40 C / 40-45 C CPU/GPU at load is 60-70 C / 70-80 C Both chassis fan & CPU fan are controlled by motherboard BIOS. Both are set to "Silent" fan profiles.

I would stay away from Noctua industrial fans if your goal is more silence oriented and go for standard Noctua fans. Their industrial fans are meant for harsh conditions, (dust filled server rooms etc.) because of that, fan motors are more powerful and much more noisy. You don't really need...

Temps seems not too high, shame about the noise that goes with it. Couple of thoughts. Small Noctua CPU cooler is indeed near-silent at idle and desktop mode, but close to 1000 RPM it get's quite noticable. 3 PIN SilentWings fan will not give you great control over it. This was the main reason...

Nice! Brings back recent memories of late night fiddling :) Interested to see your idle/load temps. I intentionally didn't go for K model, as people say it produces a lot more heat that non-K model. Seems like despite bigger cutouts on newer OSMI, 1070 still doesn't fit cleanly without...

Seems like you have to choose right motherboard to fit these 2.5" drives inside the case. Usually 24 pin power connector goes right below where this 2.5" drive sits. This is not possible with my Asrock Z270 board. In the picture we can see, that 24 pin is at the "top" sort of speak. Also...

The optical drive mounts like this: And K888D was right, those holes are for HDD/SSD 2.5" drives.

I see. No idea though. There isn't any space left for mounting anything, so I would guess it's a manufacturing process thing. I can see now that your cutouts are different than mine. It could be, that 1070 will fit through the holes. I would wait for the card, before unscrewing bottom plate.

Yes, screws were pretty tight, but they are made from quite hard metal, felt really solid (at least on my case). I would be more careful tightening them back up, because the thread is very small. No, 1070 didn't fit through the holes at the bottom, cooler shroud was too thick (have there been...

All is well. Only thing I wanted to do is custom PSU cables. But that's about it. I can't think of anything else how to improve on this OSMI build. If I had to build it again, it probably wouln't be in something so small as OSMI :) Despite all of the oversized fans, in order to keep things...

It's hard to find any airflow information on Corsairs fan, but to me it seems, that Noctua cools SF450 better. It get's to 0 RPM mode after gaming quicker, than with stock fan.

Two things got done in the weekend. Changed SF450 fan to Noctua - it's amazing how much more quiet it gets even under load. I highly recommend doing this. The Noctua fan is almost identical in starting voltage parameters but it silent at low-medium loads. Comparing two fans, Corsair's fan seems...
