Looks like a great little project, been eyeing these boards up for a while for a passive build.
I'm a little weary of performance though, so would be greatful for any ball park figures you have for gaming. Also I'm aware you can't overclock the apu but I believe you can play with the memory...
Seen a lot of talk of using the hdplex AC-DC psu with this board, how are folks planning to do that?
I had similar plans originally (along with a large passive extruded heat sink case like someone else mentioned) but I can't see a 4 pin 12v connection that the psu requires or is there a way to...
Great to see something is still in the works for Am4 in this format.
Pity it hasn't got 12v input and the height of the IO and Ram being vertical though, don't think it will offer enough advantages over an mitx board for what I have in mind.
+1 to that idea, a board like that with a hdplex ac-dc unit could make a beasty little brickless passive/silent pc, but can't bring myself to buy an embedded board when a socketed one could support another 2 generations of apu's.
Cheers for the replies, it's looking pretty unlikely for significant gains beyond the Cpu performance then. Looks like it's time to get my hand in my wallet and start looking at more expensive options.
Hi, bit of an open ended question as I don't think there's any hard information out there, but figure it's worth getting people's opinion on as folk here are likely to be more well informed.
Looking into you crystal balls, how far do you reckon Apu graphical performance will reach on the am4...
Aye aware that it's embedded just hoping someone takes the plunge and makes a socketed one with a similar form factor (using sodimms makes it much easier to make a passive or low profile case and smaller foot print is always appreciated).
Ohh hadn't spotted the 4-pin that's brilliant and makes...
Sorry to go off on a tangent but how are you planning on getting this work? Put a barrel jack on the hdplex 80w and loop the cable out of the case and into the boards dc input or solder directly to the board?
If your successful I'd be really interested is hearing details as the only thing...
Just wondering what advantages the higame has over the standard hades canyon nuc?
If some one released a model with internal ac/dc psu it would be an instant buy to save me cobbling something together.
That things great, as mentioned above an mstx board might fit the bill. If someone ever makes an am4 format board, that will the new 35w raven ridge chips would probably do the trick
Neatness as much as anything, would like to shrink down the enclosure and ideally have a single plug running to it. That and just the novelty and learning experience of a bit of a project
Hi all, looking for some feed back into the feasibility of a project I have in mind as well as some pointers in where to look for more information in relevant areas.
Building a passive enclosure for my zotac magnus en970, but want to also encorporate an internal ac-dc psu, most likely in the...
