TheInternal

I'm a nerd who's been into computers since I was 12 years old. I grew up wishing I could buy a screamin' 133 MHz Pentium and 16 MB of RAM... but instead was limited to the family Apple IIgs for the better part of 10 years. I managed to convince my folks to buy a shiny new computer with a Voodoo2 AND some upstart company's (NVIDIA) TNT graphics card and would go on to make my first PC game mod on that (a super angular car for Carmeggedon 2 I called "The Prick", in line with the game's adolescent nature).
My first job was working in a local computer shop, but I was fired after one week when I went to the manager about the hard drives being installed in a sales order being much smaller than what was on the work order. Shady.
I brought my first computer in 2001 by trading in a Microsoft Professional Programming Suite I won at some big box retailer. It was a total lemon / piece of garbage HP. That has been the only computer I've ever purchased for myself pre-assembled.
Since then, my niche has been high performance dual GPU gaming / media production rigs with increasingly less noticeable acoustic properties. I've dabbled in SFF boxes with my first SFF being a clunky Ahtlon 64 based box with dual analogue TV tuners (pre-TIVO). Revisting SFFs with my mid 2016 build for a media center, gaming, and VR system.
I worked as a professional builder during a stint as a microcomputer maintenance technician, in which I probably helped build around 1,000 systems across three university campuses in Texas and maintain / troubleshoot at least two times as many systems in the mid 2000s.

As for non-computer stuff?

Two of my three degrees are in design / media art, and I've been looking for employment in media production / design for nearly two years (this go round) while selling computers in retail land to (almost) pay the bills. I'd love to combine my passion for computers, design/media, and education in magical fun-time ideal job dreamland. I'm trying to get the hell out of South Carolina due to the terrible job market (not to mention some awful social trends / staunch loathing of things like "facts" and "reason" common to the area.)
I'm also into games, am a kinky weirdo, into social justice, and have been accused of having a very anthropological view of the world.
