Accessory Portable LCD monitors for work and gaming, recommendations?

I also came here to post this... Unfortunately, the HDMI 2.0 and USB-C combo means that you need an RTX GPU to take advantage of the 240hz refresh rate as HDMI 2.0 can do 120hz max at 1080p. Interested in seeing what AMD will bring to market this summer. I think they were rumored to have DP via...

    Which GPU for SFF?

In real-world gaming benchmarks at WQHD and 4k resolutions, the Titan XP is only some 3 to 7% faster than the 1080ti. If you already have a 1080ti, why are you looking at a card that's only marginally faster for an absurdly high price? The best option to improve your cooling I think would be to...

Cooling 7700K hitting 100C in DAN case :/

The mounts are proprietary, yes. Simply use cable ties to attach the fan. This combo is recommended even by Dan himself as it's the most powerful most quiet cooling solution for the Dan A4 Case which has very limited space for a CPU cooler (the LP53 won't fit with the stock fan) PS: Dan's own...

Cooling 7700K hitting 100C in DAN case :/

Strange, my results were much different. Did you use the stock cooler from the LP53? I used the Noctua NF-A9X14 PWM on the LP53 and the result was cooler and much, much quieter.

Cooling 7700K hitting 100C in DAN case :/

Undervolt. Consider delidding and repasting (or look for someone who can). Also, I wouldn't recommend K CPUs in cases like these, it's almost impossible to get good cooling in this formfactor. Source: Have just moved my 4790k from a DanCase A4 to a larger Thermaltake Core V1.

Cooling 7700K hitting 100C in DAN case :/

Having owned both the C7 and the LP53 Noctua combo, I can vouch for the effectiveness of this method. Heck, I think even Dan himself (creator of the case) said it's the best you can do in this case until he completed his custom SFF cooler. The cooler being all copper can be quite effective with...

News HDPlex H3 V2 Fanless PC

This would be a lovely home for my current 1150 ITX system when the 4790k doesn't cut it anymore for gaming and could be turned into a home media system (should be a few years). But wouldn't 160W be enough for any recent CPUs? Do people install GPUs in these or why does it support 300W PSUs?

SFF.Network ASRock reveals the refreshed DeskMini GTX/RX with Z370 chipset !

If daily use is your goal why are you looking at a gaming system? For a gaming system, it's been proven that it hardly matters if you use a i5 or an i7 or a k CPU - especially nowadays that we have 65W CPUs with 6 cores and 12 threads, any performance benefit beyond the i7 8700 is negligible in...

Accessory Portable LCD monitors for work and gaming, recommendations?

Not using a Laptop for gaming at the moment! The issue is solely getting it to work with my gaming PC. I just checked for my Mobo but there are no USB drivers in there. As far as I know USB3 drivers are supplied by the OS in the case of Windows 8 and newer.

Accessory Portable LCD monitors for work and gaming, recommendations?

I don't doubt it! But what's a man going to do other than using the latest drivers that are supplied by the manufacturers of the products he is using? Is there secretly a better DisplayLink driver out there?

Accessory Portable LCD monitors for work and gaming, recommendations?

Thanks for the in-depth report, AcquaCow. I recently ordered a gaming notebook because I didn't think gaming on a USB monitor would be possible. Maybe I'll have to re-phrase this however. It seems it's not possible with my monitor. For what it's worth, I have the successor to your monitor, the...

Accessory Portable LCD monitors for work and gaming, recommendations?

Dave, It baffles me how you do this. On my systems, DisplayLink (via USB3) would never use the dedicated GPU. Opening Nvidia Control Panel, I will get the error that no monitor is connected that use the Nvidia GPU. I can play games, but they will stutter and lag like hell. (MB16AC is the...

    USB-C Portable Monitors

Thanks for that info, saves me a lot of money. Also explains why the Skull Canyon is the only device that can use my MB16AC Monitor directly via USB-C. This monitor only works with iGPU as long as video cards don't have USB-C connectors. The Iris Pro is Intels strongest iGPU, but it still falls...
