Discussion Horizontal airflow GPU cooling solutions?

Ah phantom canyon! I was considering getting that but now I'm getting a Tiger canyon instead. Mostly because it's much cheaper but also because the phantom canyon board won't fit my case without modifications. The case I'm planning to use is ~1.45L. Interesting to see someone with a similar...

Discussion Horizontal airflow GPU cooling solutions?

That's exactly what it is haha. Is that an MXM card? I've considered MXM cards but it seems there is no m.2 to MXM adapter. Also iirc MXM cards are hard to find. I'm not sure if an adapter chain (m.2 - PCIe - MXM) would work. It would probably take some high quality, well shielded riser...

That definitely sounds like a much more reasonable choice haha. I will take a closer look at the GPU's once the market actually calms down again.

Discussion Horizontal airflow GPU cooling solutions?

I was afraid that was gonna be the case, though in my experience the fans on GPU's tend to be a bit worse than high end case fans like noctua. The card I was thinking of using is the MSI RTX3060ti aero ITX which only has one fan so I might be in luck! I'll probably go with an even lower tdp...

Discussion Horizontal airflow GPU cooling solutions?

Hello! I am planning a stupid project that involves putting a strong GPU into a ~44mm tall case that has no holes for airflow in the top or bottom. The most doable solution I can think of so far would be taking the original fans off the GPU and using 2-4 40mm fans with a custom shroud to force...

Log turning a NUC into a 1080p gaming rig - the cheap way - DIY eGPU

Oh wow thank you that looks amazing! I was aware of the NUC being able to take 12v but I couldn't find a 12v power brick and just assumed the standard was 19v to a DC-ATX unit like HDPlex does. After a short search I can only find a brick for over 300€. I hope that is not the best price I can...

Log turning a NUC into a 1080p gaming rig - the cheap way - DIY eGPU

Oh that is good to know! How else am I supposed to power the riser if not with the included sata adapter. (I would have plugged it into the PSU originally.) I'm pretty sure the riser I bought said it is intended for use with a GPU. My (pretty stupid) project is to use a NUC with a GPU, but I...

Log turning a NUC into a 1080p gaming rig - the cheap way - DIY eGPU

Tbh if I had the space I would have immediately switched to the meanwell unit with the 5v PS_ON after seeing this thread, but in my case I have barely enough room for the nanoATX one. Have you tested if powering the m.2 riser from the NUC's internal sata power changes something? I doubt it can...

Let's hope there's some standardized deviation for the time the bios takes to check then! Definitely gonna try it soon! Thank you for the help! I just checked ATX specifications and it says the time between receiving the PS_ON signal and reaching regulation ranges on the 12v rail should not...

Sorry for the double post. I can't seem to figure out how to edit. The relay I bought is rated for 0.5ms. That sounds pretty good as far as I can tell.

Alright thank you! I'm gonna try using a relay but it will take a while until I can get a PSU to test it with.

Will the 5v front panel to ps_on trick work the same way on an ATX power supply? (more specifically the HDPlex 200w DC-ATX) I checked an ATX PSU design guide and it seems PS_ON will only turn the PSU on when there is 0.8v or less coming in.
