Log 8.4L SFX Custom Built Case

The case is coming along nicely. The top rails were simply a mirror of the ones that were made for the bottom. Once they were cut to size and screwed in the next step was to mount the motherboard tray. This was done in the same way as the top and bottom rails with some 90 degree brackets at...

Log 8.4L SFX Custom Built Case

Had a bit of a set back with the layout doing the first mock-up, with the HDDs not being able to be properly installed where they were planned to go. I've moved to a more traditional "sandwich" layout where the PSU lives in the front of case next to the motherboard. Getting the framing done is...

Log 8.4L SFX Custom Built Case

The main aluminum pieces have been cut out. Nothing too complex at this stage but i've now got a better idea on the available internal space and where extra components such as SSDs can be mounted out of the way.

I've been using the NFC S4 Skyreach case for my system for the past two years now, but i've had some recent issues with the power brick causing the system to crash. So with needing to address the power supply issue I thought what better opportunity than to do this and give a custom case another...

    Numb's Skyreach S4 Mini

Next up was to finish up the power supply. The plan was to make a case for the Delta 400w with mesh at each end to allow for airflow. Started off by cutting and bend up a top and bottom cover. The top cover is 1.5mm aluminium and has holes drilled into it to mount to the side mounts on the...

    Numb's Skyreach S4 Mini

So after some setbacks on another project that I was working on I've decided to use the NFC Skyreach S4 Mini for my desktop computer system. It will be a pretty standard build with nothing too outrageous being done. The parts: NFC Skyreach S4 Mini Ryzen 2600 Noctua NH-L9a Asus Strix B450-I...

Power Supply HDPlex 400W AC-DC Adapter

I checked the site today but no new release information is listed, but they have added some new pictures though including the fan.

It should fit fine with a side panel on, there should be a 1cm gap. But I don't intend to run it with a side panel on, I prefer to leave them off to see all of the components.

Some of the components were received today for this build: Ryzen 5 2600 Asus ROG Strix B450-I 2 x 8GB GSkill Sniper x 3600Mhz Noctua L9A AM4 Samsung 970 Pro 512GB With the motherboard I was able to go through and do a test fit in the case which thankfully there were no issues with...

    1 of 1: A 6.3L Brickless Case

Started to get the rear cut outs done, nothing too major, just a matter of marking out the areas with dimensions from the model, cutting and then filing down to size. The next job will be removing the protective plastic and doing the final filing, then getting the top and bottom pieces...

    1 of 1: A 6.3L Brickless Case

So I started to make the case now that the design is completed. The first step was to print out the measurements and mark them up on the aluminium using a straight edge and a marker (excuse the mess in the shed). Once the back piece was marked out it was time to cut it to size, but leave a...

Just extra ventilation at this stage, but there's clearance for cards up to 14cm high.

Did a little CAD (cardboard aided design in this case) just to make sure that all of the measurements and cut outs are all ok before moving across to the aluminium. All that is needed is a little less length in the GPU cut out and it should be good to go.

I played around with the GPU the other way around and it seems to be the better solution. It gives more flexibility with graphic card height rather than being constrained by the motherboard. I've also picked up some Aluminium this week and will probably begin prototyping/production over the...

    1 of 1: A 6.3L Brickless Case

For the SFF build that I am working on I plan to make my own case for it. The general plan is a case that supports the HDPlex 400W system internally with the C14 plug along with an ITX board and a mini version graphics card. This is just a personal, one off project (hence the 1 of 1 name). I...
