My A9x14 HS.PWM Chromax has a loud whine above 30% or so as well - I just leave it at that and set it connected to my AIO Pump Header and have it monitor motherboard temperature.
The A9 PWM under the PSU runs at 50%+ without much noise
Yeah I ran into the same issue playing with the Black Ridge cooler - its larger area means the CPU seems to get hotter slower in synthetics (can sustain higher boost clocks initially) but the fan needs to be REALLY loud
Meanwhile, on the NH-L9a w/ Fan Duct, properly mounted of course, I now...
Figured out some temp issues - bought some authentic Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (who knew that fakes existed...), re-seated my NH-L9a, and really applied tight pressure on the CPU and backplate. Updated to the latest BIOS as well, which allows for curve optimization in PBO2.
Moreover, I adjusted...
AGESA 184.108.40.206 is out! Allows for curve optimization - AND the fan speed limitation of 75C is lifted! Meaning, you can now tweak the fan curve up to 100C for 100% fan speed - so I can let the CPUs settle in the high 70s/low 80s and maintain a low fan speed
So I am almost certain that I have this exact issue. I have a 5600X and B550I ROG Strix in a Dan A4 with a NH-L9A w/ fan duct.
On completely stock settings, I get single core speeds up to 4.65GHz and my benches for single core are in line with reviews, albeit up to 68-72C.
However, when I do...
