Prototype Mini ITX APU Case - Sub 3.0L - Billet Aluminium

The original design looks good. I actually have a pretty similar case 3d printed. Just different placing of the holes and button. But the second design looks much better to me. That's a sleek one.

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

v0.2 - 30/12/2019 So. Based on the feedback I did a couple of changes and learned something: 1. Added 12cm fan at the bottom. I wasn't able to test it out yet, but I pretty sure the low profile will fit. Full size is really questionable as it takes quite an amount of space. 2. Placed SSD on to...

Concept 3D print materials and production questions

I do the nut embedding as well, just have to give it bit try here and there as for example for M3 nut which is 5.5 wide I have to give it 5.56 space. If I give less the material tends to crack on small areas. If I give it more, the nut tend to fell out.

Yep. That should fit. It will be close, but it should.

Regarding fan at the bottom of the case have one issue. The cube would have to have stands and quite high do allow enough airflow. Will definitely check on it and try some ideas

Concept 3D print materials and production questions

Nylon is strong material in comparison to other plastic materials. And it is not really the cheap option. Not sure how big your planned case is, but 100$ sounds more sound than 10$. The cheapest to print is basically PLA, not that strong and quite easy to melt. 3D printing case I would go...

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

The plan is to make it metal at the end :) At the moment it is plastic as it is just easier for me to prototype.

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

Thank you. On the pictures most of it is PLA except the sides which are PETG. I'm currently printing PETG only version with couple of tweaks and changes. Takes about 60 hours to print it at the moment.

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

That's alright. I surely wasn't the first person in the world to come with this idea :D It's good you spotted it, I'm not really checking out sites like Taobao or Alibaba. Yet I have to admit they are quite clever and they've already implemented some changes I was only thinking about and some I...

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

Now you made me a bit unhappy. That one cute cube for actually a quite good price. Anyways. I made a couple of changes to the design based on the feedback, so I'm going to print it out and upload some pictures of the build process.

4cm fan should be able to fit to the front to help cooling PSU a bit

1 SDD will fit for sure and I plan it to mount it just bellow the PCI bridge.

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

Exactly this. It won't be 18cm cube.

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

Yeah. I'm currently working on v0.2 and power button will go into the corner. I also agree that additional fans should not be needed.

    Prototype 3L18 - 5.8l Cube

The current PSU gets about 50 degrees. flex might be better option I guess, but I will have to try it first :) Unfortunatelly there is about 4mm space between motherboard and front cover as the case is just 10mm wider than the motherboard
