Unfortunately that is not going to happen anytime soon. After the RTX40XX presentation, I'm going to stick to my current 2080Ti until either AMD presents us something more reasonable or Nvidia comes to its senses again. I mean selling us downsized chips (relative to the previous generation)...
Thanks for your reply
Yes, picking a good motherboard might be a problem. This is actually one of the reasons why I chose the NH-D12L because it is smaller that the D15 and D15S and therefore hopefully allows more options. And the D15S is not that far off performance-wise (D12L NSPR = 148 vs...
I just ordered this case but it will be a few weeks before it arrives. For the CPU my plan is to have one from AMD (either an 5800X or maybe an 7600X). For the GPU I wanted to buy a new RTX 4080 16GB but after that unconvincing presentation last night with the crazy prices I might stick with my...
I don't think that you have to underclock. Just set the power limit and the card will throttle automatically to stay within the power limit. Undervolting will help though as it should allow higher clocks under the same power limit.

If you are not a gamer why not take a small graphics card or even just the integrated in some CPUs and use an AIO water cooler. I think this should allow you to user CPUs with higher TDP, right?

Hi everybody,
I got my Sentry now and installed my system and build a custom fan duct for the CPU. I also installed two additional Noiseblocker NB-BlackSilentFan XS2 with dimensions 50 mm x 50 mm x 10 mm. They just barely fit in this case with a Gigabyte B450 I Aorus Pro WiFi. And the results...
It is slightly faster and slightly cooler. With the improvements suggested by SaberPL it might get even better. I'll probably try that too with my blower style card.

As a physicist I don't think that is the problem. The problem is that it doesn't matter which thermal conductivity your outer very thin layer has if everything else has the same conductivity as before. The large chunk of copper that is the base material will still determine the overall thermal...
I paid 252 Euro with shipping to Germany. Unfortunately the units are sold out though. It will probably take quite a while until new units will be on sale.

The 3700x is still 65W TDP. So that should be ok with a good cooler. The 3900x has a TDP of 105W. I don't how well that would work in a Sentry 2.0.
I also have a question regarding delivery of the latest sale. I ordered a black unit and got the confirmation email by PayPal but never anything...
Thanks for your answer. My original plan was to separate the fan from the cooler because the central part of the fan covers a rather larger part of the heatsink reducing the area of the heatsink that gets airflow. Also the sides of the heatsink are not covered by the fan at all. So I want create...
Hi,
could you please elaborate on the "duct" part of your mesage? I just bought a Sentry 2.0 in the sale and also have a NH-L9a-AM4. I plan to build a duct to separate the fan from the cooler a bit and would be interested in your experiences.
Thanks!
Alexander
Thanks for the information. I have a follow-up question though:
I totally understand that you can not make any promises but I just want to know if it still possible that new cases will be available before September or if that is already out of the question. I'm currently planning to build my...
