So, it would actually close up perfectly well? What would you consider to be the drawbacks of this solution - if any? And have you tried making the 645LT fit?

Could you please post some pics, especially some with the side panel closed? Does it bulge?

Seems like the reason for the EVGA delay is this.. EVGA's statement: "During our mass production QC testing we discovered a full 6 POSCAPs solution cannot pass the real world applications testing. It took almost a week of R&D effort to find the cause and reduce the POSCAPs to 4 and add 20 MLCC...

He mentioned that removing the backplate didn't help at all.

Seems like EVGA with Noctua coolers might be the way to go then (to save on width and noise). The flow would be turbulent and thus noisy but I guess that with its three fans, heatsink and more traditional cooling design it would perform better. It might even run on much lower rpm. Any thoughts?

Good to know :) Also, could you link the evga disassembly video? I guess that's an issue that impossible to get around with the bigger cards. And personally, as long as it's quite on idle and low perf tasks I'm happy. I would still like to know more about how well it fits with the side panel...

@unknownexception Great work! Have you managed to fit the 645LT yet? I can't stand the noise from my air coolers.. Also, do you reckon that it's safe to add that stress to the shroud? Can you close the side panel well or does it bulge?
