I bought one of these. It took 3 weeks to get here from China and you are right, it is a turd! after it shorted out, I removed the heat shrink to find that it looks like the gut had been melted out with a soldering iron. The heat shrink was put there to hide that. Awful!

It is 1/2" off of the Video card. Considering a regular cable is 1.25" with the wire bent down, I would say that is a huge difference, unless you need the door on the PC to touch the video card, I see what you are saying.
