That is actually a great idea. Those parts have gotten a little bigger and moved around, so it would totally make sense to turn that into 1 piece. I'm gonna play around with some design ideas.

My "final" version will be made from black panels so that all the countersunk screws will be pretty much hidden. It is a 92mm fan. I started with a 120 but it barely fit and looks out of place.

I just moved from CAD...
I'm trying to figure out how to mount my HDPLEX 400w. The aluminum bottom plate isn't threaded so I imagine you have to use a small nut? Any suggestions?

Yeah, I have used Red Oak, Mahogany, White Oak and Maple.
I really like the baltic birch because of the nice exposed edges. The only problem is that it doesn't stain that well.
