Doing a system transplant and slight rebuild soon and was going to ask about bios updates, hoping things had gotten better from the last time i tried upgrading :/ It would appear not. I'm still on V3.10, as versions past that ( there where only one or two last time i looked into it) broke...

I wasn't aware that there where any major features supported by X470 that weren't supported by X370? A reason to buy a 3XX series board to pair with your new Ryzen+ CPU might be form factor? As far as im aware there aren't any ITX X470 boards currently available, and given how long it took for...

1700X sounds more than adequate for the resolutions and fps you're at esp. given youre running a 1080. Tho tbf most people will fall into this category (myself included, I'm running a 980Ti Classified). If however you where planning on doing 240hz 1440 or 120hz 4K, you'd find yourself needing...

I'd go for the 1600 for gaming for its higher clocks, and the 1700 for anything that chews through cores/threads. That said I have a 1700 and it does great if your not doing high res high / refresh rate gaming. I'm at 2560x1600 @60hz and I'm never CPU bound.

My suggestion would be to go to 4.40 for the higher RAM compatibility, given you're not planning to OC you CPU. I'm on 3.10 as 3.40 broke my "speedstep" on idle, (so I assume they've fixed that in 4.40) and BC my RAM does 3200mhz XMP out of the box. Just my 2¢ :)

Mind if you share a link for the reddit thread? interested to see what people are saying about multiplier issues as im still having them after updating to 3.40 a while back

Looks like we've (B350 & X370 ITX) got two new BIOS updates as of 11/1/2018 3.60 is reported as a "Bridge BIOS" 4.40 is reported as a "Update AGESA for upcoming processors." With the note "* Before updating this BIOS, please update the BIOS to P3.60 firstly." Interesting that there's no...

If you know what speed your ram doesn't boot at, id start from the step below that. Once you find the speed your system will boot at, then start stress testing. If you get crashes/blue screens, drop you ram to the next level and repeat until you can both boot and run intensive programs...

Turning you ram down to a speed you can safely boot at is a good start. Once you've figured out what that is, id run some more intensive programs ie games or benchmarks to make sure those speeds are stable for your system under load. Ryzen systems are still a lot more sensitive to ram speeds...

There are stories of other Board Manufactures pulling similar BIOS updates, with some horror stories of bricked boards. But id say anyone one with the pulled update thats had no major issues till now should be fine, and i spose if you're really worried you could return to the last known "good"...

Like wise. I'm running stock CPU clocks for a 1700 non X, and my RAM (GSkill Flare X) does 3200 on both 3.10 and 3.40 out of the box at C14 via XMP. My only real issue (as outlined has been the loss of an "idle" CPU state. Never had any of these sort of issues on my old X79 based system but...

Take this with a grain of salt as i found it on a reddit thread (located here if you want to read in full : https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/7hqqjj/agesa_1072_whats_new/ ) " The CPU support design and memory management were nearly completely rewritten. The result, for most, should be...
