Hi all,
I would like to introduce the concept and working prototype of a 2.99 litre mini-ITX case, capable of housing a mid-range graphics card, and test the appetite of the market for such a case. If this interest you, it would be great to hear your comments in the reply section or e-mail me...
Absolutely beautiful case!
I was wondering if you (or others) had done any GPU temperature testing with graphics cards that extend all the way to the PSU heat shield, such as the MSI Aero ITX card in your photos? I'm wondering if the reduced gap between graphics card and PSU shield would impact...
Hi SFFMunkee,
Thank you very much for taking the time out to reply - really appreciated! Thanks also for the useful link - it'll take me a few reads through to understand it, but it looks like it does a good job of describing the principles at play. From other resources, I get the impression...
Hi all,
I'm hoping someone out there has the knowledge and/or experience to answer my query or at least point me in the direction of someone who can! I've tried looking into this using a website called 'Google' (if you haven't heard of it, it's a bit like AskJeeves, but will probably never catch...
Hi,
Really interesting build! What cpu are you using? I'm about to try the 1650 Super with the 160XT pico psu, but not sure if I would be pushing it too hard with an Intel i5 6500.
Hi Newtothegame,
Thanks very much for your interest and well wishes for the project. I'm hoping that the boxy look will appeal to all the Volvo drivers out there :)! But you're quite right - the 'straight' edge design was initially the result of my own limitations in constructing earlier...
Hi Hoka Hey,
Thanks for your comments. The fans are 80 mm.
One of my main objectives behind designing the case as it currently stands is to avoid the need for side fans and ventilation. This has resulted in the need for the 2 front fans only when paired with the slightly non-standard approach...
That's a good point - I might try and create a post detailing some of the steps I've had to go through which as you say, might be helpful for others going down the same route (particularly in the UK).
Hi Windfall,
It's ticking over, but nothing major at the moment I'm afraid! I've made some minor design tweaks and now have the prototype in CAD ready for CNC production (the prototype photographed was for the most part hand-built). I'm hoping to have the first CNC'd prototype ready over the...
Hi JDragon, Thanks for your comment. Slightly surprisingly, there have been a couple of people interested in a larger variants of the case (I was anticipating the case having a place in the <5 litre niche) - a variant with 2 x 120 mm fans would probably be close to the top of the list and follow...
Hi Analogue Blacksheep. Thanks for your questions. In response:
1. Yes. I had initially started the project with the aim to have a system I could easily fit into a small rucksack. I have also recently had a discussion with a friend who is an upholsterer about making a custom sized neoprene carry...
Hi Sumdumdad, Thanks for your interest. I'd certainly be happy to produce a different size variant if there was enough demand or alternatively (although I'm not exactly sure what it would entail or know the implications to final costings) could have an option for a custom size based on the same...
