CPU Anyone have experience with AMD APUs? Considering one for a light gaming build

I put together an A8-7600 build for my kid. The APUs are very memory sensitive. 2133 gets you a 10% improvement in performance over 1866. The A8 could only go to 2133. Tests showed performance improvement was pretty linear with each memory speed increase on Kaveri. In addition dual rank memory...

Any sub 7 liter itx cases with SFX & GPU support?

Not quite, but 7.17L Lian-Li PC-Q20, http://www.lian-li.com/en/dt_portfolio/pc-q20/ Restricted in it's cooling capability, max 60mm CPU cooler; in addition might need to open up the bottom like Lian-Li does on the slightly larger PC-Q21, and the GPU vent is only single slot.

    Stalled Catz C-1 (5L), C-SFX (10L) and C-WS (15L)

Both cases look to be made from reassuringly sturdy material, and with nice fit. I like the inclusion of an optical drive slot for multimedia flexibility in an HTPC.

    Patents and case designs

You bring up really interesting questions. Can case layouts be patented? Or can they be copyrighted? What about looks? Finishes? What are the differences it terms of protection whether something is patented vs copyrighted? Does national patent law offer any differences in protection? I believe...

Antimemetic: Fully Passive GTX 1080, SFF, Scratch-built

Hadn't seen Impactics. Are their heat pipes alu? It says "coming soon", yet the date is 2013. Would you know where they sell their stuff?

Antimemetic: Fully Passive GTX 1080, SFF, Scratch-built

@GuilleAcoustic True, Grosbill's build isn't DIY. I was just replying to the question about NYCesquire's 1080 being the world's first passively cooled. His statement wasn't "the world's first DIY passively cooled 1080". I find NYCesquire's build thrilling as is Stefan1024's various builds...

Antimemetic: Fully Passive GTX 1080, SFF, Scratch-built

Love it. As for It isn't the first. Grosbill did 3x1080 and dual Xeon CPU passive with Calyos cooling tech last year: https://www.cowcotland.com/news/55085/pc-fanless-grosbill-puissant-monde.html

    Prototype limit cube3 case(3.38L)

I really dig the fit and finish of this aluminum chassis. What is the thickness of those panels? They look machined. With this construction, chassis could easily be made modular. Now that I've seen these two here, I found them on Taobao, the smaller for USD177, the larger for USD 115.

Thank you for a great, thorough review with excellent conclusion points taking the fiscal/pay back scenario into account.

Antimemetic: Fully Passive GTX 1080, SFF, Scratch-built

I like the design. I was looking forward to the gullwing version, though, and I was wondering if it was going to work. The engineering questions remain with the new project. BTW, what do the heat sinks weigh?

    Anyone heard of CEMO?

Never heard of CEMO. Sort of Streacom, Jonsbo line. But less pricey. Fit and finish when seeing in real life would be interesting.

SFF.Network [SFF Network] AeroCool's Dream Box - Wait... What??

Love it. Agree with your #1 improvement point, the need for proper corner pieces to enable cube builds. Perhaps the old lego solution would be useful where you could just order the pieces you need and skip set kits. Even so, most interesting.
