Prebuilt Getting around a PCIe Slot 35W limit

Thanks @BaK, I was thinking that already that I would pick something that would also use auxiliary power. Just wasn't sure whether a certain amount of power was expected from the slot itself before the GPU feeds from the 6/8 pin connector.

Prebuilt Getting around a PCIe Slot 35W limit

So I was fortunate enough to score an old PC from work for EUR 20.00 - an HP ProDesk 600 G3 SFF. The machine has an Intel i7-7700 CPU, 32GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, and I was thinking about the viability of using it as a gaming machine by adding a GPU. Unfortunately, being an OEM prebuilt, the PSU...

Completed Lone Industries L5 - 4.6L Mini ITX

    1. I just like the look of the case - understated and clean. The build quality is also very good, and I thought the price was also very reasonable. I also want to mention your engagement with us on this thread - I think that also makes a difference - the fact that you are open to feedback on the...

Lone L5/EPYC - A Compact, Powerful and Quiet Server

My goal was to build a small form-factor server that was also quiet with relatively low-power consumption. It would be used to run VMs for a home lab. I'd been lusting over the Lone Industries L5 case for a while, and this little project gave me a reason to order one. The case is very...

Motherboard Supermicro Embedded AMD EPYC motherboards

Hi, did you end up testing whether you can power the Supermicro board with the Mean Well 252W brick and the J-Hack adapter cable? I've been considering such a build lately and it's a little frustrating how little information there is about powering their boards with the DC docket. Or maybe I am...

Completed Lone Industries L5 - 4.6L Mini ITX

I really want to buy this case, but I have no need whatsoever for a new build.
