Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

Why? Personal taste or is there a particular reason?

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

I don't understand why a project that would have been to be delivered on July 2016 (old Kickstarter campaign) today isn't started yet. Maybe the public low interest has convinced to move resources towards another projects?

Chimera Industries Cerberus: The 18L, mATX, USA-made enclosure

I sometimes think that revive the Kickstarter campaign (as it was) this time it might work. It could be worth a try.

Bad news at least for me, I wanted steel panels. I can wait for the definitive model and see it before at this point. It would be nice to have an all-steel model as prototype (same measures of the aluminum panels, with thick 2.0mm steel panels) and then the aluminum standard model. People...

For the steel version is still available the original black (that seems dark grey) color or only the new brilliant black? I would like to order a case more similar to the original Kickstarter mockup.

So the frame for steel panels is slightly different from the frame for aluminum panels? I asked for 2.0mm steel panels only because I know that is the measure of aluminum ones... So, I thought, to maintain the alignment I have to ask for the same dimension...

What about two different production runs? First the "Steel prototype edition" and then the "Aluminum regular edition"? p.s.: yes I know that the goal of the prototype is to get an idea of the definitive result.... But it would satisfy who make a pledge on the original case...

I would leave the 2.0mm measure even for steel: on the contrary the panels wouldn't perfectly alined. One panel windowed: any others interested on a prototype with these specs?

Thank you very much for your exhaustive explanation. I don't know how many prototypes you are going to produce but I have to hope there will be more people interested on steel panels out there...

I perfectly understand this, but we are talking about of a simple swap of the material. Measures and all the rest are the same, aren't they?

I don't understand why choosing steel instead of aluminum for panels too could increase costs so much.

Steel side panels for me too. p.s.: a magnet with a "All steel prototype" signature would be a nice add... ;-)

I've missed some posts... So it will be aluminum? Steel option was abandoned? :( The dark grey too for a deep black? :( What a pity the original Cerberus Kickstarter campaign failed! It would be better for sure.

No, please, there are plenty of cases made of alluminum out there. Please, let's maintain the steel that was feature that made Cerberus original. I miss something? The poll saw the victory of the alluminum supporters? p.s.: any original steel mockup for sale?

According to me the best thing of all for a Special Edition would be an engraved logo on the front panel... Take a look at the AmigaOne X1000 as an example. Another thing could be a special color that won't be used again in the future. Edit: wow this is the message number 1000: did I win...
