Moore’s Law Buckles as Intel’s Tick-Tock Cycle Slows Down

Techpowerup is reporting that Moore’s law – that the number of transistors per square inch on integrated circuits had doubled every year since the integrated circuit was invented – may have come to an end. After being accurate for many years in CPU architecture, problems with the 10nm and smaller nodes becoming incredibly challenging. SilverStone announces the Milo ML06-E

SilverStone has just announced an updated version of the Milo ML06 HTPC chassis. The main change is moving the SFX PSU to the other side of the Mini-ITX motherboard to allow for a dual-slot low-profile expansion card. There are a few versions of the GTX 750Ti available in that form factor but for now that’s about the most GPU power you can get in a low-profile card. Microsoft to host “fan celebrations” for July 29’s Windows 10 release

If you were looking for a reason to party a little over two weeks from now, you’re in luck: In keeping with similar efforts for previous releases of Windows, Microsoft has announced that they’ll be hosting “fan celebrations” of the arrival of Windows 10, with the help of retailers, and (of course) their own Microsoft stores. Events run by Microsoft will be held in 13 cities around the world on launch day, including Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, New Delhi, Dubai, Nairobi, Berlin, Johannesburg, Madrid, London, Sao Paolo, and New York City. CrossFire Fury X’s compared to SLI 980 Ti’s in dual and triple-GPU showdown

Over on PCPer, Ryan Shrout has just published a video and blog post detailing a fairly rigorous performance test, that pits AMD and nVidia’s flagship cards – the Radeon Fury X and GTX 980Ti, respectively – against each other in dual-GPU and triple-GPU configurations. In combination with the single-GPU testing they’ve already performed on both flagships, the analysis also helps to uncover how efficiently performance scales when utilizing multiple graphics cards. IBM unveils world’s first functional 7nm chip

When it comes to chip fabrication and emergent process nodes for silicon, Intel is almost always the company on the forefront of people’s minds: as the largest player in the semiconductor space, their tick-tock microarchitectural change model has set the pace in which ever-smaller transistor sizes are adopted by industry. Logitech rebrands, launches Logi label

Perhaps one of the largest manufacturers of computer accessories and peripherals, Logitech today announced a full rebrand of the company, replete with a new logo and some bright and bold styling.
